windvd recorder problem

Post by perrior »

I have searched this forum for the solution to my problems but so far nothing ..
I have a dvd disc with all these programs on it. WinDVD4, WinDVDplatinum,
WinDVD Recorder, WinDVD Creator, and WinDVR.. These are all trial versions..
So I installed WinDVD4 and it works great. When I install WinDVD Recorder the program does not find the dvd burner.
I'm running xp pro and the dvd burner is a atapi dvd-dd-2x16x4x16 and I have a ATI 9000 graphics board.

The DVD burner works with my other programs just not WinDVD.. I have downloaded the latest driver for this burner but that didn't help.. The version of WinDVD is 4.5 B11.030.
I could try the latest version but this version should work and I want to find out why.
Anybody have any ideas.

Thanks in advance

Click on the "Source" icon then a selection of sources should appear. Your DVD drive should be included in the options together with "Open file" and "DVD from folder". If your DVD drive appears there, then select that as the source. If the DVD still can't be read, the problem could either be with the disc or your optical reader's capability of reading the disc.

*Make sure you do have a DVD-ROM drive and not a CD-ROM. CD-ROMs won't be able to read DVD discs.

*If your DVD drive does not appear in the source options, check if it's properly installed.
1. Open "Device Manager" (refer to Windows Help & Support for instructions going there).
2. Expand the "DVD/CD-ROM drives" section. If your DVD drive has a yellow "!" or "?", then the optical drive is not properly installed.
3. Please contact the computer unit manufacturer (HP, Toshiba, Dell, etc.) for help regarding this matter.

*If you installed a DVD burner, your burner might have installed "Wnaspi32.dll" version 4.71 which is incompatible with WinDVD. Please contact your burning software manufacturer's technical support for assistance on how to locate "Wnaspi32.dll" and check its version. If it is indeed version 4.71, please request for a different version to install (a lower version would be ok).

Hi Sjj
I appreciate you replying so quickly.
I have been using the dvd burner for approximately 6 month so I'm pretty sure its installed correctly.. After uninstalling the program and using a registry cleaner and then reinstallation the dvd burner shows up when I click on source option.. I did check the version no. on Wnaspi32.dll and it is Ver 2.01.45..
In the source option I click on D: which is a dvd player. E: is a DVD burner.. If I put in a dvd movie in D: or E: the movie will play.
What I am trying to do is record to the DVD burner. So I should be able to pick any source and burn it to the dvd but I can't find out what menu lets you picks the burner as the destination. Which would be E:.The DVD burner.

When I click on the red button for recorder it says select caputre device list...
dv camcorder,
ati rage theater video capture tv
ati rage theater s-video
ati rage theater composite
ati rage creative web sam nx pro.

I can't seem to find the dvd recorder in any of the menus.
The help file says that when you click the sub menu a button should come up saying recorder..
These are the options I see..
Navigation
Language
Display
Color Audio effect
Audio SRS
Audio Mode
Video Effect
If I click any of these option there still is no recorder button to select..
What am I doing wrong.

Thanks
Bob
