 4:3 is almost square and 16:9 is wide screen. Some camcorders give you the impression of wide screen by trimming the top and bottom but the actual footage is still 4:3.

As you posted in the Video forum we don't know which Ulead product you intend to edit with. I will assume (stands for making an *** out of U and Me) that you have VideoStudio.

Either:
in the library manager right click the thumbnail and select [Properties]
or with the clip on the timeline right click the clip and select [Properties]
or when inserting a clip you will see an [Info] button.

16:9 vs. 4:3 format

Post by judymacmv »

If you downloaded video in both formats, can you change the thumbnails clips so they are both the same format? I must have used different settings on my video camera because some clips are in wide screen 16.9 format and others are in 4.3 format. When I burned the DVD there are clips in both formats and I like to make them all the same (4:3 format). I read your post about right clicking on the thumbnail to see the properties but can you change the format?

I have the ULead Video Studio 10

Thanks

Judy
