I am looking to purchase editing software for .MOD files.
I have seen the advertisement that states Ulead Videostudio 10 plus "supports" the format...What exactly does that infer?
Does it mean to say that with Ul;ead VS10+ I can download, edit, and create DVD's from .MOD???
I have to ask, and I'm sorry to sound so naive, but I also noticed the absence of .MOD files being listed on the final page of the Ulead VS10+ PDF file under "Input File Format Support".
Thanks!
Newby here, with JVC Everio 255...

Thank you!
I have read your posts. So I expect you would recommend Ulead VS10+ over other software you may know of?

About If I would recommend using VS10 with a JVC Everio Cam and MOD files......let me tell you.. I tried almost EVERYTHING out there Adobe, Roxio, Cyberlink and of course Ulead, in fact since your files from your camera are actually mpeg's with the MOD extension, if you change it, then you can use ANY software that can handle mpegs, (Adobe, Ulead and Cyberlink can read the MOD files so there is no need to rename them).. now the secret is what are you willing to give up since none of this will be "perfect" for you because they all have pros and cons. Just as a quick reference
Adobe: Excellent software (almost to complex for amateurs) , but is designed for AVI workflow, it will read the mpg/mod files , render/convert it to avi for editing and rerender again to mpeg for dvd output , at the end lost of quality and a LOT of time (1.5 hrs. can take more than 6 hrs rendering time, risk of crash!!!)
Roxio, Very similar than Ulead, does not read MOD (rename needed), can not change the field order (always BFF) and since the mod/mpg files created by the everio are TFF you end up with a flickering image and the color switches from more to less intense, It just looks bad, very bad...
Cyberlink As you know is the one that came with the camera (OEM version) so it will read MOD, it also automatically adjust the field order to match yours (TFF) I didn't like it because I had a hard time to install it and once it ran I found that the trial version does not support the Dolby Digital audio from the MOD files therefore I couldn't fully tested it.
Ulead Very easy to use, good price, it reads the mods, need to adjust the aspect ratio, AV sync problem, that can be fixed rendering the files or manually adjusting the audio track..(maybe there is another way I am still working on it)
At the end I would try with you Ulead and Cyberlink (if they release a new trial that support the Dolby audio for testing)
Hope this helps ......just my honest opinion..
