Issue With Smart Curves

i've been trying to get this option in photo impact to work..but the smart curve icon is highlighted for me to work with at all? what shall i do?

I'm trying to remove a picture from its current background and place it on another

Have you tried using the Object Extraction? Go to Object>Extract Object. Then you just draw around the object you want to extract. It's pretty self explanatory. Check the manual (PI-12) pages 127-130, for PI-11 pages 117-119.

it has nothing to do with smart curve TYPO.the option SMART REMOVE isnt displayed for me to click on it..what am i doing wrong or do i have the full program...i did download it from the site

Did your purchase it, or is it a Trial (TBYB) version? If it is the full/upgrade purchased one, then go to the Help>PhotoImpact Help or press F1, and then in the Index type Smart Remove. It will provide the directions for using Smart Remove..
