I would start out by reading these posts:
Suggested Workflow
From Camcorder to DVD
There's also a link below for Tutorials.

My advice would also be to start out small. Don't start out with an hour long project that involves multiple overlay tracks that you need to have done in 2 days. Try some 5 or 10 minutes projects until you get the hang of it.

Thanks Jeff for your advise and direction. Seems a lot to digest but will come back with any success story.

VideoStudio 9 has arrived and it has 2 CDs, one marked 'program' and the other 'bonus CD'. Have I got to install both ? If not what may be the use of the 'bonus CD'?
MANY THANKS FOR YOUR GUIDANCE. :?

From memory, both discs are necessary. The bonus disc has some of the extra templates, sample videos, photos and music. Only the templates are installed automatically when you click on them. The rest have to be transferred manually to the relevant folders in the VS 9 directory on your computer.

But I am more interested in the fact that you have obviously only just bought the program. Where did you buy it from, and, if you don't mind, can you tell us the price (if possible in US dollars or Euros). The current version is VS10 and it is about to be replaced by VS11. I would hate to think that you bought VS9 thinking it is the most recent version.

Sure. Just move the cursor or jog slider to where you want to split the clip and click on the Scissors icon. That will cut the clip at that point. Then you can just drag a clip from your library and place it between the two clips.

As a maiden effort to use VS9, I down loaded some DVD files which were created earlier on, using MF4, from my HD, to create a new project with texts.

When I finished this new project the total duration came to 1 Hr. 49 Mts.
However the total content came to 8.11GB, far exceeding the disc space of 4.7GB

Although this techy. is double dutch to me I checked to compare the settings in the files created by MF4 and VS9

The Bits in MF4 read as 720x576
The Bits in VS9 read as 352x576

The Video data rate (variable) in MF4 read 7000kbps
" " in VS9 read as 9578 kbps.- (All PAL)

When I clicked the burn button, a pop menu warned as follows, in pidgin English:

'The project content over the limitation of the project size. continue will enlarge the project size to let the action can keep going but you have to change the media at a bigger one' Continue?

Yes or No

Pleasae help me out, I am almost there. How does one change these figures? I tried to ,but could not. Or should I.Thanks. :?
