soft blur around the outside edges
Is there any one out there that know how to so a blur effect around the outside edges of the video, like you are seeing a part of a dream effect, where the center fo the video is still in focus!!! I know there are several video filters for blur but I can't seem to get the effect I want!!! Please help!!!

You could use a "region" mask directly on your blur filter, but I tend to favor using overlay controls since they provide more flexability.
To use overlay controls...
- Create two copies of your clip, one in V1 the other in V2.
- Apply blur to the V2 copy. (Gaussian blur is nice and controlable)
- Open Overlay options for V2.
- Select Gray Key for Type
- Select Image Matte fro Mask, use the CIRCLE1.BMP file from the Mask folder in MSP's Samples directory (should be in the MSP directory or your install)
You can use the Cutoff slider in the Advanced control panel to adjust how much of the image will be clear. (It's the triangle in the lower left of the graph that points up) You may also opt to use the softedge settings to ease the transition from blur to clear.
Hope this helps.
Have fun.
