Key frames to make a running line

Post by libby »

Can someone tell me to make a running line along a map to show a touring route for a DVD I am making. The Ulead help desk said to use keyframes but didn't really help me. Thank you. Libby

Running line on a map

Post by libby »

Thanks!I tried it and it worked like magic. BUT how do you get the solid line on one map and the outline on the other map? Do I need to go into another program for this? Thanks. Libby

Hi Libby

The two map images are identical with the exception of the red line.
This has been inserted using an image editor.
I used Adobe Photoshop, but any image editor should do.

So yes, to your question, you need an image editor.

Hope this helps.

I will edit the web page to clarify this.

Still not woriing well

Post by libby »

I have done as you say but it is still not working well. The road does not just go east/west or just north/south. It just transitions from a blank map to a map with a red line on it. Can I send the file to you? Thank you. Libby

Hi Libby, are you using the Wipe / Slide transition as stated in the tutorial link above or just a cross fade?

Libby,

I've just tried it and it worked fine. you put the image without the line in first then the image with the line, say 4-5 sec each, then go to Effect and select the "Wipe" in the drop down menu and pick the "Slide" option. insert the transition between the two images and make the transition about 4 sec and adjust to suit.

Hope this helps.

Hi Libby

Have you managed to get the effect working, following alan¡¦s directions.
Thanks Alan

Yes you can send the file.
If you send the Vsp, I will relink to the images and be able to see what you are doing.

Still no joy, so frustrating. Does the red line have to be continuous when you draw it? Sorry I'm such a novice. How do I attach the VSP file - can't see how you do this. Regards, Libby[/img]
Hi Libby, if a process should work but doesn't go back to the beginning and check out every step.

(a) You have two maps side by side First one blank. Second one with a line

(b) Go into Transitions List and click on 'WIPE' you now have Three Lines of Flashing Thumbnails.
'Side' is the second in on the third row.

(c) Now 'Drag & Drop' this thumbnail in between the two maps (The one that is already there will be replaced).

(d) Below the Preview Window are two words 'Project' & 'Clip' clk on 'Project' Make sure the Jog Bar is at the beginning and Play.

Then Post back what's happened.
Feedback after members have endeavoured to help you is not only good manners it also helps others to know if a given solution was effective. Thanks.

Hi Libby

As a test save the two images from the web site.
http://uk.geocities.com/trevor.andrew@b ... ap/map.htm

Right click each image and Save Picture As....
Sample 1 and Sample 2

Use these map images as shown on the web page.

Now repeat with your own map images, the second having the coloured line.

Regards

Trevor

Ps e-mail me and i will return a test project.

Running line

Post by libby »

I have done this before with the sample and no problems. I can get the line running on my map of Tasmania but it is not just a single line. The running line starts from two directions at once. Is this how it should run? There is no where where I can send the file to you through the chat room.

Regards Libby
