If you still have problems with WinDVD after trying Steve's steps, contact InterVideo Support.

http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Support.jsp

Or call for a refund (if you have paid for it).

Argh!

I just bought WinDVD 8 Platinum (about 20 minutes ago online off of InterVideo's website), installed it, tried to right click, and got this problem!

Not fair!

If it matters, I've got Vista Ultimate, Quicktime 7, a Soundblaster X-Fi, etc, etc.

If I can't get it fixed, how do I go about getting a refund? =\

I hate PowerDVD compared to WinDVD, but if it works, it works.

Are you installing software that's not written for Vista? I don't have Vista yet but according to the apple webstie "QuickTime 7" isn't written for Vista yet.

From the apple website:
Which platforms are supported by QuickTime 7?
QuickTime is a truly cross-platform technology. It supports Mac OS X Tiger and Panther, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Is QuickTime 7 working properly on your Vista machine?

I have same problem at WinXP SP2. Why Intervideo do nothing about this problem?

it appears that it happens when the cursor goes over certain items that can expand (those with little triangles next to them). It's probably caused by the submenu, but I do not have a solution.

FYI, i'm using WIN XP SP2 Home.

I had the same problem, if you have a right-click menu replacement program like "HACE MMM" installed, try disabling it, then re-start WinDVD8.

Only tried this for WinXP, I took Vista off, despite paying for Vista Ultimate, thinking about going back over to Ubuntu for a dual-boot system.

This product in French works perfectly upon my French Vista Ultimate edition x64 (ASUS P5LD2 System) as I had experienced no errors upon a clean install of all French :D software! NB! I only use an intergrated 8 channel digital audio from Realtek, & no Creative PCI sound cards at all!

I am getting this message too when I try to use WinDVD right click menus (Vista). I contacted support. No response after several attempts. I sent a message asking for a refund. No response after several attempts. That was months ago. There is a name for this. It is not just poor support. It is called robbery. If you are reading this and thinking about buying any InterVideo products - don't. This company does not deserve your business.

it has been months since this post started and as yet there is no solution just silent ignorance on the part of intervideo.
the sad thing is that when the program works it is an extremely good player, but as with all things it is the support side that truely lets it down.
intervideo should be ashamed that they can take peoples money (as they did with mine) and then totally ignore the consumer who provides them with a means to survive.
how hard can it be to rectify what should be ,i believe ,a simple error in programming? as stated previously ,it is not an os exclusive problem therefore it can only be a program error.
come on intervideo, get your act together.
