VS10 program doesn't open
After having troubles with VS8 SE I decided to download the trial version VS10.After instalation open program and had the same problem when I press "capture" tab program freeze.Turn PC off by holding down the power button.Restart window and can not open VS10 from desktop or program list.Remove VS10 and reinstall same problem.Remove again restart windows in the last known good config. reinstall VS10 same problem.I am v. p. off now.Anybody have any ideas what has happend?
I have Spybot SD with resident runing and when I installed VS10 first time I didn't allowed for VS to load at start up but the program did open. When I installed VS10 2nd and 3rd time I have not been asked by Spybot if the software can load at startup.I did check if the file is alowed to load at startup and it is thicked for loading in Spybot.

Hi Nick,
I'd be a little peeved too, having to go through all that. However I think what you need to do is start over, and hopefully one last time.
First:
Try doing a complete un-install/re-install. Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So just doing a simple add/remove programs from the control panel and then re-installing may not correct some issues. Instructions can be found here : Re-installation of Ulead Products
Second and before re-installing:
Shut all antivirus, spyware, adaware, instant messengers, down. These can cause problems during installation of programs, and all it takes is just one little "hiccup" and your install can be screwed up. Sometimes that may not reveal itself right away.
Then re-install and see what happens.
I use 2 spyware programs, Spybot (as you) and LavaSoft Adaware. I've never had either program prevent any of my video editing apps from loading or installing. You might try uninstalling Spybot, until after you get VS installed. Try VS to see if the install went well. If so reinstall Spybot. I've uninstalled it several times. It's such a light-weight utility that it does not take long to reinstall, and re-update.

I have done everything step by step and still no luck. One thing I have noticed,as I right click on the VS10 icon and pick "Run as" than "current user" I do get this message in a little window.
At the top "Ulead Systems,Inc."
than Exclamation Triungle and says "Limit users can not try this product.
You can use normaly after successfull activation"

Nick,
Here's a couple more options:
Try Setting the DEP (Data Execution Prevention), instructions are in this earlier post of mine:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 1135#81135
2. Download a fresh copy from Ulead's site http://www.ulead.com/vs/trial.htm. Then after doing the complete uninstall, try installing using the fresh copy.

The only folder left in my computer that relates to Ulead is in Registry at
My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT USER_\Software\Ulead\DirectShow\MPEGVideoDecoder
Do I delete this folder before I reinstall VS10?
I downloaded a new trial VS10
Completed reinstall VS10 as per earlier instructions
Done a file/folder search and deleted everything that relates to Ulead except the above folder with the codec, and suprise ......... I need a match to burn this PC,the same problem.I can not get tech suport from Ulead because my VS8 that came with the hardware it tells my is allready registered so no tech suport for trial version. I'm stuck.Any ideas?

I did most of the things in related link and run my registry cleaner program deleted a lot of bad entries checked hard drive -ok event log viewer has only consistem log wich seems to be at the times I turn off PC by Power button and this is the explanation from M$ "System Restore encountered an error when backing up a protected file. This error causes System Restore to stop copying files and purge all existing restore points. System Restore will automatically restart after the next restore point is created" this must be for my System restore software i think
There is only one event log that tells me of a bad sector is this "\Device\Harddisk6\D" i think is my second HD D80GB
I am wondering if the activation of the VS10 has got to do with VS10 not open because when the program open for the 1st time I did not allowed to connect to internet.I denied access trough my AVG firewall.I did go to firewall and allowed access for VS10 manualy after i experience this problem but still no luck.

By turning your computer off using the power off button you are causing damage to your computer which no doubt has caused the bad sector problem. You MUST shut down your computer by clicking the [start] button at the lower left edge of your computer screen and then selecting [Shut down]. This will take a few minutes. Otherwise it is the same as a sudden power cut as described in the link I gave above.nickyanc wrote:I did most of the things in related link and run my registry cleaner program deleted a lot of bad entries checked hard drive -ok event log viewer has only consistem log wich seems to be at the times I turn off PC by Power button and this is the explanation from M$ "System Restore encountered an error when backing up a protected file. Regarding the bad sector(s) you MUST run chkdsk /f so that
1. Any readable data on the affected sector(s) can be retrieved
2. The affected sector(s) will be marked by the computer as *not to be used*
The bad sector error message may be the cause of your current problems.
