Importing DVD Into MF4 - Lost Audio If It's Dolby Encoded

Post by ctbcubed »

I installed MF4 and discovered that the audio is lost upon importing DVD's encoded with certain Dolby audio streams. This problem seems to be related to the ULEAD DVD Player 2 codec.

The audio that causes a problem shows up as Dolby Digital 1 channel. All other audio streams, such as Dolby Digital 5 channel or mpeg import just fine.

Has anyone else experienced this?[/list]

Hi,

I had a similiar problem with AC-3 2/0. Not sure what happened.
Started playing it but then quit.

It was something simple though. Something like muting the soundcards
mixer.

Do you report the problem to Ulead Tech Support??

You might need to describe the problem with more details.

I too am having audio problems with MF4 and AC-3 audio.

If I import a video file from a DVD created by my DVR-DVD player (this is a DVD-Video format DVD, not a Video-VR format), it has no audio when played in MF4. The file contains AC-3 audio. I am using the Import DVD-Video button under the Add Media heading and navigating to the video folder on the DVD in order to bring this video into the program.

However, if I use the Edit DVD process instead of the Create Video DVD process, which thankfully no longer breaks up the import into chapters, I retain the audio.

So at least there's a workaround. But why the difference?
