Black screen problem..

Post by borgee »

I am having problems when playing DVD's. The video and audio are fine when the screen is small, but when I maximize it the audio still plays but the screen goes black.
I can stretch the screen to almost full size and still see the video, but when I stretch it to full size it just goes black.
It was working fine until about a week ago, and I haven't changed any of the settings, so what could be wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Are you playing the DVD on the secondary monitor? If so, then it's a bug in WinDVD 8 retail version (the bundle version that come within a system has fixed the issue). The solution would be:

Not to play the DVD on the secondary monitor.

or

Contact InterVideo Tech Support to get an update patch.

Hope this helps.

very dark screen - please answer

Post by EdBallinger »

Could you guys please answer this question. I don't see an answer anywhere and "help" isn't very helpful.
I'm using WinDVD 5 and I have a very dark screen, audio is fine.

I've seen similar problems before in Windoze Media Player and the fix was to turn on DirectX. I don't see much in the way of options in the WinDVD options menu.

The DVD plays fine on my DVD player attached to the TV, just not on the computer through WinDVD.
Please help.

Same proble, black screen great sound

Post by earthgoat »

I was watching a dvd this evening on windvd 8 and it was running just fine. My husband bumped the mouse pad and accidentally hit the reverse button. It started to rewind and when I hit play the entire program crashed. I restarted it and now the screen is black but the sound is there when the dvd plays. I tried a different dvd and it was able to bring up the menu screen but then locked up there and couldn't show any video, just sound. Please help because this is our only way to currently watch dvd's!!

Thanks a lot!!
