I am new to this video capture but I'd like to copy on DVD some of my holiday tapes.I have bought form ebay this new video capture card USB2
http://www.tradekey.com/selloffer_view/id/446483.htm
It came with Ulead software V8.I have an Panasonic MiniDV model NS-DS11 and the only cable that I have for it is the S video. When I open VideoStudio8 everything seems to work fine I,can change preferences do all other things but when I hit the capture tab I get a small window "Change field order" in the "field order" I have "Upper Field First"
than Processing bar with 4 green lines and 10%.The only button that I can press is "cancel".I can not exit program only minimise but I can not even turn off my PC I have to push the power button.I did remove the program and reinstall it with no luck.It makes no difference if I plug the video camera in to the video card or not.I would like to know if there is a better way to do this because I realised after reading in this forum that I have an firewire plug but my video camera does not have the small square plug only Svideo and audio small hole but I lost that cable wich use to have 3 plugs Yellow White and Red.Thank you
VideoStudio8 freeze when I press capture tab

The main thing you have to realise is that, with a mini DV camera, the only way of capturing high quality video is by using Firewire (otherwise known as i-Link or IEEE1394). You camera will definitely have a mini-Firewire port on it: look at your camera manual to find it.
Next, your computer will need to have a Firewire card as well. If it does not, then they are cheap these days and easy to install. They usually also come with the relevant cable.
If it does not, then the sort of cable your need will normally have a mini-
firewire plug at one end (for the camera) and a larger 6 pin one at the other end, which goes into the Firewire card on the computer.
You do NOT use the sort of device you bought on e-bay. It has only RCA connectors, and is meant for capturing analogue video either from a VCR tape or an old analogue video camera.
Even if your mini-DV camera came with a USB cable, that is only normally used for transfer of still images from the video camera, or else low quality streaming video suitable for the internet or sending to friends over the internet.
I repeat, you MUST have and use Firewire to transfer video from your camera in high quality DV format. You then do all your editing in DV format, and when that is finished, in VS 8 you go to Share > Create Video File > DVD, to create a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 video file of your project.
You then close your project, and with an empty timeline, go to Share > Create Disc. This opens the DVD burning module. You insert your new mpeg-2 into the burning timeline, build your menu and burn.

Thanks Berry but I did look all around my camera and doesn't have any other sockets except 1 round (says "edit" next to it) one similar to Svideo but has 5 pin holes.I did go to share tab but can not click on "Create video file" because is faded in the back ground. The only buttons available are "Create Disc" and Share Video Online.I do have an IEEE 1394 socket at the back of my PC.How can I use this Video card & V8 for copy VHS tapes?

Believe me, your camera -- being a mini DV model -- definitely has a Firewire port. Have you consulted the camera manual??? I believe there is a rubbery flap on the right hand side of the camera (towards the front), under which is the 'dv' socket (4 pin - looks a bit like a fat m: flat top curved underneath).
When you go to Share > Create Video File, was there video in the timeline?
In any case, the point is moot, since you MUST (I repeat) capture using Firewire...

I agree with Ken, and I did manage to locate your camera doing a Google search. It does in fact have a Firewire connection. I would hang that thing you bought on the wall, so that about 6 months from now, you will still have it as a reminder. I've been down that road, and believe me you'll understand why, when you plug your Firewire in, and start using it..
Now for capturing from VHS, I don't know if your camera has "Pass-through" capability. You will need to consult your manual for that. Several Digital-8, DV and mini-dv camcorders do. If so use the Pass-through to digitize your analog video from your VHS.
