All those who have used DVD MF6+
I have not yet installed DVD MF6+ and was wondering if there is a compelling reason why one should favour MF 6+ over MF 5+, apart from the claimed compatibilty with VISTA?
Heinz,
Some posts reporting installation problems with the AVSdkControl program. Don't know if it's actually that program because MF6 installation is also installing 3 other programs at that time, one being a command line program.
The AVSdkControl program along with 3 other programs resides in the installation "Utilities" Directory. If I omit this installation directory by renaming it MF6 installs and these programs aren't installed.
AVSdkControl installation program is located in this directory. If not installed MF6 doesn't capture from HDV nor DV standard devices.
I also have VS10+ installed. Before first installation I moved the common files/ulead systems/ folder to a backup directory so MF6+ was working with it's original installation files.
New things I've noticed so far.
Field_Order Selection.
Support Dolby 5.1
Match project settings similar to VideoStudio when inserting new media into the timeline.
HD-DVD Authoring to Standard DVD Disks.
Importing Dvd's appears to be better for my dvd-ram disks.
Different type of Menu Transisions if your into menu's.
Add /Edit / Import Sub-Titles (Closed Captions)
More editing features (Small Storybook/timeline interface similar to VideoStudio, don't think you'll use it though)
Some performance improvements.
To answer your question directly my MF5+ compared to MF6+.
More stable, better importing, new addtion of field selection, joining & exporting mpeg's and other formats works better. More control over working with my hd-mpeg2 video(s), matching project settings. More stable than previous releases on my machine.

In my opinion MF6+ is a vast improvement compared to earlier versions.
I particularly like the new menus that include effects where the text and thumbnails can be made to wipe in
Example (I created this 8 thumbnail menu myself)

Better editing options and it includes ready made themes that can be applied - useful for slideshows though I am a bit dubious about using it with a video.
15 Thumbnail menus
15 Smartscene
14 text menus
customize options
11 frames + 1 no frame
32 sets of navigation buttons
layouts:
3 x 2
4 x 3
1 x 4
1 x 5
1 x 6
1 x 8
Total = 11
7 Themes.
If you have earlier versions of MovieFactory and/or VideoStudio you can use those menus also simply by copy pasting (maintaining the directory structure) to
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Content\Menu Template
below this you have sub-directories for
4x3
16x9
HD Basic
So if you have an existing 4x3 sub-directory named sports (containing various sport menus) you would create a directory and copy them to:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Content\Menu Template\4x3\Sports
