Particle plugin in PI 12 does not work

Post by Trixie »

Hope someone can help please.. I have Pi 12 and Pi pro installed on my computer and my particle plugin will not work in either of them..
I did have Pi 10 and 11 installed but removed all of the PI programs and did a clean install. I only reinstalled the two programs .
When I try to use the particle plugin I will get a message saying the plugin is not available
and code comes up 800.312.2492
I have installed the free Particle plugin but it will not allow presets .
I have an HP Media center Pc with 225 gig hard drive with 167 gigs unused..I gig of memory...
It is frustrating to have the plugin and not be able to use it..
Thanks for any help ...

Are any of the files/folders on your computer compressed with Windows XP file compression?

Open Windows Explorer and right-click the C:\ drive - select "Properties" from the bottom of that menu. On the box that opens up, is "compress drive to save disk space" selected? Also check this for all the other folders for the Ulead programs.

If compression is on, turn it off and see how things go.

When you installed Particle Plugin, did you install it to it's own folder?

Do you recall what folder you chose as the plugin folder to use?

Which programs have you tried using the plugin with? Are you logged in to Windows with the same user account it was installed with, and with Admin rights?

Any other specific details welcome. The more the merrier.

Apparently I have not made the situation clear..
The particle plugin contained in the PI 12 and PI pro programs will not work at all..
I have added the plugins dll and every other thing I have been advised to do but it still will not work.

To have a particle program to use I have installed the free program from Ulead..It is installed to C:\Program Files\Ulead Particle.Plugin..
the free one will work in my PI programs , but will not allow me to load or add any presets...

I guess what I am asking for is a solution for both problems as I also use the free particle program in My Psp programs..

I am logged in as administrator as I am the only one that uses the computer..
I always close my firewall and AVG before I do an an installation .
I am totally confused and hope I am not driving you crazy..

For sure it has me wondering about myself ???
Thanks so much,
Trixie

Browse to C:\Program Files\Ulead Particle.Plugin\data

What are the file properties for that folder, and the part_gal.pst file in there? Are either compressed or "read only?"

Okay , I Browsed to the data folder and it is read only and not compressed.
The part_gal.pst is not read only and not compressed...
Thanks,

Sorry , it won't let me change it ..
Every time I change it and click Apply and OK , it reverts right back to read only...
When I click on add to add or load a preset , I get the message that the preset folder doesn't exist.

Is there some way I could create a folder ???

Thanks again...

Hmm. Running out of bright ideas...

When you installed Particle Plugin, do you recall what folder you chose as the plugin folder to use?
