Using a .3ds object in Cool 3D

Let me make sure I understand this properly...

When importing a .3ds object, it is a single entity and the individual parts cannot be modified. If I wish to modify the parts, I need to export each individual part, import all the parts into C3D and then put them back together.

Correct?

That's correct.. If your .3ds model came with a texture and you want to keep the model as is, and just use the texture, make sure you check the bottom choice D3D Data Type. The texture needs to be in the same folder as your 3ds model file.
