Ulead must hire me / Unspecified error fix

Post by rasta »

Hi

for those of you who get "unspecified errors" read below:

after trying for days to make DVDMF 6 work, the fix came when less expected. installed media studio pro AFTER DVDMF 6 and the unspecified errors in MF6 were gone!

It seems like MF6 uses a older library (mpgmux.dll ver. 1.1.1.64) and media studio uses ver. 1.1.1.66 so installing it over solved the problem for me.

I know it¡¬s weird a newer program uses an older library but that¡¬s the way it is.

I hope Ulead has an explanation for this.

My installation of MovieFactory 6 Plus is using
mpgmux.dll version 1.1.1.135 dated 1/18/2007 246kbytes and is llocated in the common files/ulead systems/mpeg directory
When I installed it there wasn't a ulead systems directory so it's the clean install (I hope :) )

I found 2 on my system.

1- Located in the Common Files/Mpeg folder, Version: 1.1.1.166
1- Located in Program Files\Ulead Systems\PhotoExplorer 8.6\CD_Data\MPEG, Version: 1.1.1.31

Great, you stumbled onto a specific fix to an unspecified error :D It's quite obvious that your "fix" does not apply to all systems the same way as the problem did not occur on all systems either.

I'm glad you found a work around for your problem though. Let's hope it will help others with this problem also.

I think it is a common problem where one piece of software over writes an existing dll with a different version and causes problems.

In fact I posted one such 'fix' only a couple of days ago
Fix: Import DVD (VOB) Files DMF/VS/MSP

I have previously remarked about how the installation sequence can make different computers 'different' to another seemingly identical computer

During installation it looks like some computers are having a problem with the programs in the "Utilities" Directory.
I guess this is all part of the installation script file.
