Album transition - Can I start with just the album cover?

Post by apavloff »

I just installed VS10 and am putting several album slide shows together. The transitions work OK but is there a way to start the timeline with just the album cover (with title) then transition to open the album cover to display the first page (or pages)? Has anybody had success doing this?
Currently the timeline just starts on the first image. Any chance of getting around this?

My initial thought was you could just capture a frame of the cover as a still and use that, but you don't really get a good look at the cover in any of the transitions. Maybe someone else can come up with an idea. Sorry. :(

no, the album transition starts with an open album, then the pages flip.

There is never a view of the closed album.

(And if there was, you would ask for a transtion to the album closed on the back cover. Hey they know you!)
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.

I did find very nice album transitions from Adorage. Unfortunately, the package is a bit pricey and I have been going back and forth emailing with them to find out if I could get just the album transitions and not the entire package. You can download their demo transition program, but of course unfortunately, the album transitions have a "demo" watermark, while many of the other transitions in the demo program do not.

Hi apavloff

I do not use Album transitions that much, the time to render these transitions is a big disappointment.

However:-

By creating a ¡¥title image¡¦ against a plain background will allow you to use it as the first clip. This will become the image in the first page of the Album transition.

OK

Create a title, no animation.
The background colour can be changed if required, File Preferences.

Create a still image of the title. using Tools- Save Current Frame as Image. (in Project Mode)

Insert the new Image to the start of the timeline, do this twice.
Now Insert a third image, the first of the slide show.

Use transition Flip 13-Album between the second and third image. Seemed to do a good job.

Make the second and third image and transition duration the same length.

Render to video file.

Just an idea

It could be that Trevor is looking at v9, which had 15 album transitions, or he copied them to v10. My v10+ also only has 7 album transitions

Yes I agree that Trevor is referring to VS9. However it appears that Flip4 in VS10 is the same as Flip13 in VS9.

Hi All

Sorry about the confusion, yes I seem to have used VS 9, but is still relevant to VS 10.

Try the different transition options to find the most suitable.

The opening frame is the title then the album changes to the first slide. If I am reading the original poster correctly that¡¦s what was asked for. There may be other editing ways to achieve this

In reading the VS11 user's manual I see that you can select a Custom Album Cover and import your own cover image. That would suggest to me that the Album Transitions start with a view of the cover. That would be a nice feature. 8)
