Ulead Media Studio - How Do I Import Video

Post by dylan mckay »

So i just got the ulead media studio pro and im trying to upload videos from my digital video camera onto the program but i cant seem to find the import button anywhere! Export is there but not import.
Also, my video files from the camera are in .mod format so how do i upload this type of file? do i have to convert it to a more recognizable format? how do i do that?
if anyone has any directions, please please please email me at yronen@msn.com cause i cant do anything with this right now.
Thanks!

I suggest you read Part II of the manual to see how to capture. As it is 42 pages long, you can hardly expect us to reproduce it here, can you?

If you don't have the manual, you can download it from the Ulead site.

Your using a JVC camcorder correct? The .mod files are actually MPEG, but I don't know if JVC does anything proprietary with their files. You could try renaming them from .mod to .mpeg and see if MSP will import them. You can also try using any one of many file conversion programs, like Super to convert them to MPEG-2.

hey I am using mod format also from the JVC Everio. This is a proprietary format. To get it into MSP you must use the the program on the disk that comes with the JVC or go to the JVC site and DL the SW. it's free (of course)
The JVC program is named CyberLink PowerDirector Express and it converts the mod format to avi or more general mpeg 1 and 2 formats. Then these files may be used in MSP
Needless to say I have two of every file from my camcorder. I think you will too. lol
Good luck!
Sadly I lose a bit of vdeo quality on the way to MSP

not to bounce my own post but forget all I said above.

After reading a bit more here I tried just changing the file-ext to "mpg". This allowed MSP7 to see and import the file

When you change the file ext Windows might fly-off with a Warning: "File may become unusable" proceed witht the change and the file will work the same.

I thought I tried this once before and it failed but then it occurred to me that I had no mpeg2 codec the last time I tried it. So that must be the reason it failed
good luck
