The red line means that you have set a TRIM on the entire project ie you have trimmed the entire timeline for the project.
Load the project, select TIMELINE view and DRAG the TRIM HANDLE for the MARK IN to the far left and the MARK OUT to the far right.

You've inadvertantly set the Preview Range (probably by setting a mark in or mark out point while you were in Project Mode instead of Clip Mode - I do it all the time :? ). Directly under the Preview Window you will see the triangular-shaped Jog Slider. Drag that all the way to the left to restore the beginning of your video.

That "REDLINE" is a pain in the butt. I have got it a couple of times and it baffles me each time it shows up. Why dont the user guides show this thing?

Oh, but it is mentioned in the User Guide, see page# 34..Setting a Preview Range. Open the index, and it's also listed there so you can locate and jump to it quickly..;)
...and it is marked as a colored bar in the ruler panel.

The red line represents the Preview Range and shows as a line in the
Ruler Panel below the Preview Window.
This allows you to play only part of a project.
If a mark in/out point is selected in the Project mode you will only be able to see
the video inbetween those points.
To remove the red line, (which was inserted whilst in the Project mode by setting the in or out points)----move the black triangle(trim handle) below the
blue bar at the bottom of the Preview Window that is on the left to the start
of your project .
Then click on [ or F3.
Move the trim handle(black triangle) on the right all the way to the end of your Project and click] or F4.All this must be done in the PROJECT mode.
The above method is one way of trimming a clip in the CLIP mode
