Agent86 -- we need also to correct a misconception you evidently have about terminology. A single, separate video -- such as that produced when you have finished editing and gone to Share > Create Video File -- is called a 'title' not/not a 'chapter'. (And I know this can cause some confusion with 'title' also being used for the name you give to your masterpiece and have in rolling credits etc. But nevertheless, that is the technical term for a full, single video -- a 'title'.)
Now a title can have a number of chapters inserted (either in the editing process with VS10 and VS11) and/or in the burning process. But like a book, which is broken up into chapters, the book nevertheless remains an indivisible whole. So does a title with chapters.
Once you are in the burning module, there is a button which allows you to create a menu. Now the primary level of the menu is for the individual video clips you are planning to burn to a DVD. So it is a 'title' menu. And you can have several different video clips, with different subjects, included in a DVD, and each different one will have its own icon in the title menu.
But of course, you can tick the box that says Add Chapters, and on the new page which appears, you can either confirm the chapters you may have inserted during the editing process, or you can add new ones. But the separate screen(s) that appear with icons or whatever for those chapters is the chapter menu, not a sub-chapter menu.

I can't follow the directions exactly. But basically it seems like you haven't told me anything except how the menu system works.
If I am in the menu editor and it's displaying the Main Menu, clicking on the one video or the Play All button does nothing except let me edit those fields. If I change the "Currently displayed menu" to my video then I can see the subMenu as you say.
My question is: With one video how can I get rid of the sub-menu's completely and have my chapters listed on the main menu? I am talking about a very basic DVD with one video and 3 or 4 chapters. Can't I see my chapters directly from the main menu without having to have a sub-menu?

In the Menu Step, hit the EDIT tab, Click on Advanced Settings, Uncheck Add Title Menu (you might want to use a Thumbnail Menu for the different Scenes).Agent86 wrote:My question is: With one video how can I get rid of the sub-menu's completely and have my chapters listed on the main menu? Thank you! That is exactly that I needed. Also, thanks for your time in explaining how and why things are set up the way they are. I wish there were better documentation to explain why and how instead of 'click this' without a description of what happens when you select the option, but oh well.
Another question. In the Video Editor if I give my chapter a name only the chapter points for the title are transferred to the DVD burner menus, not the name I gave it in the editor. Is there anyway to transfer the editor chapter names that I assigned so I don't have to manually edit the name of every chapter point on the menu screens?
