PLAY 2nd video project (when ends go back to the menu)
(VS9)
(I am sorry if someone dont approve me opening new topic, but the old one Movie + photos (+menu Qs) got too confusing and I got the fealing i ll never get help there)

The Authoring in VS9 does not have the ability to add "Chapter End" actions. Baically, when you jump to a scene/chapter in a Title, playback will start at that chapter and continue until the end of that Title.
If you disc space permits, you could have separate assets representing each individual chapter (its own video file). Then you could play a specific section (now its own video file) and return to the menu at the end.
Regards,
George

Yes, but commercial movie menus aren't made with $100 software. If you don't expect VideoStudio to be the "be all" and "end all" of video production you will be amazed at what it actually does do.this is something that should be normal... Afterall every dvd movie offers you "play movie" and "chapter selection"...

I dont expect of $100 software to do miracles, actually many many things i saw in VS are above my expectations I had when i was installing it...Black Lab wrote:Yes, but commercial movie menus aren't made with $100 software. but this is, basic thing... i mean you have a movie and you wanna create 2 buttons, "play movie" and "scene selection"... If that is something VS cant do, I must say, I ll be totally dissapointed... nevermind all that "moviemagic" it can do...

To you that function may be "basic". I, for one, have never had any use for it. So for me it would be an "extra". I'm sure Ulead is sorry they couldn't include EVERYTHING.

Compare your flowchart with mine - but try and image that in mine Video 1 and Video 3 doo not exist (So you are only left with Video 2)Bojan1983 wrote:I havent seen your reply until now, and i havent replyed till now as well...sjj1805 wrote:It DOES offer you a Play Movie and a Select chapter selection.Bojan1983 wrote:Hmm... Remarkably - they are the same! Your main menu will have a play all button which in this case would be the main video, it will also have a chapter menu button.
So the answer once again is YES.
What Steve has said does do what your diagram shows
However, I think the problem is the diagram (from Bojan1983) does not show what was asked for here:
Your diagram does not include the "2nd movie" -- so the PLAY-ALL acts like the "Show 1st movie", and the button for "1st movie" will go to a scene selection menu.

George

This would require two buttons for "1st Movie" (one to play it, and one to jump to a scene selection for "1st Movie").but, how to make menu in sucha way to have
1. Show 1st movie
2. Chapter Selection (1st movie)
3. Show 2nd movie

now, i ll be boring again
If I remove your video1 and video3, i ll get this :Compare your flowchart with mine - but try and image that in mine Video 1 and Video 3 doo not exist (So you are only left with Video 2)

Sorry, but no, they are not... in your flowchart you can see that you are missing "VIDEO PLAYS"... I guess I am not explaining something right if you dont see the difference...Remarkably - they are the same!
Your flowchart is offering only "chapter selection" which will lead to watch whole movie, I wanna have a nice thumbnail button that will skip chapter selection and play whole movie
You are right, I excluded 2nd movie from example to make it simple. I thought If I can make it work like in my diagram, adding 2nd movie (without chapters) would be simple "add another project" operation...GeorgeW wrote: However, I think the problem is the diagram (from Bojan1983) does not show what was asked for here:This would require two buttons for "1st Movie" (one to play it, and one to jump to a scene selection for "1st Movie").but, how to make menu in sucha way to have

Uf.. English isnt my 1st language and maybe I am trying to get something that cant be done... Maybe i cant explain what i want. If thats the case I am really sorry.
But, if you see that I made an effort to create this post, maybe you ll see how bad I would like to solve this.
Again, tnx to all who tried to help.

Creating a SIMPLE menu
VS 11+, new user
In the editor I created a simple movie and added (and named) chapter points. When I go to Share > Create Disk and the Add Media/Chapter comes up I have my project listed but the "chapters" I created in the editor are actually sub-Chapters.
1. It appears that the only way I can create a "simple" DVD with chapters (not sub-chapters) is to break my movie into individual movies and load each of these into the video editor, is this correct?
2. The chapter points I named in the editor are not brought over so I need to go through and rename all the sub-chapter points on the menu editor, is this correct or am I in error?

To create this:

In VideoStudio you can do it this way providing you only have ONE video in your project.
1. Open VideoStudio
2. Go to the Share Tab
3. Create Disc.
4. Import your Video
5. Create Chapters with [Add/Edit Chapter] and ensure that [make menu] is ticked.
6. Click [next] to go to the Menu Selection screen.
Now you have a Main Menu:

Clicking the Chapter link or button (depending upon style of menu selected) will bring up:

So to activate your left hand flow you select the 'Play all' button.
To activate the right hand flow you select the chapter button/link.
