Load from Stream Error

Post by ajpaverd »

When I start Ulead Video Studio 9 SE, (and periodically during usage) I get multiple "Load from Stream" Errors. I think this is being caused because the program is trying to load several video clips in the library which were deleted from the computer.

After I click "OK" to each error message it loads a white square with a grey cross over it to where the video thumbnails would usually appear.

Multiple uninstalls and re-installs have not resolved the problem.

Does anyone know where this program stores the information about which files it has in the library. Idealy I would like to convince VS9 that it should not have any clips in its library.

Thanks

Are you allowed by the program to delete the white squares with black crosses? If so, thereafter VS should no longer be trying to load them.

Unfortunately not. Each time I so much as click on a white square, I get the same error multiple times. VS9 seems to generate the error whenever I click on or try to find details or click on a clip.

The error must be related to it being unable to load the clips and generate thumbnails because when I use the menu above the library window, I get the error again as it refreshes the white squares that were partially obsucred by the menu

Load from stream error

I seem to have cracked it on my Version 10. Uninstall in the usual ways, either from disc or Control Panel, delete what you have in C:/Programs etc then reinstall it, but this time browse for a folder to install it to that is different from the default. All I did was to delete the "10" from the end. I know it would be desirable to eliminate the error, we all know what is causing it, but at least it gets the program functioanl again until Ulead come up with a proper solution.

Thanks very much for your suggestions everyone. The program is functional but the error is still there.

I've reported it to Ulead but hey haven'n come up with a working solution either so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hopefully they fix this problem in future editions.

This is similar to what Bert.1 is doing, but I think more precise to the problem. The white Xd boxes indicate that VS can not find those files to relink. So remove the VS_video.dat file and VS will rebuild it when you reload the program.

Instructions:
  • Go to C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\9.0 (or whatever version).
  • Locate the file mentioned above, VS_video.dat. This is a data file that stores the information for the Video Library in VS.
  • Rename the file VS_video.datX. Just placing an X at the very end, so that if need be, you can go back an remove the X, and you will still have it to restore.
  • Now launch VS, and it should have a new Video Library (the default).
You can return to the folder where the VS_video.dat file is located, and see that VS has recreated that file.

In VS9, go to Tools menu, Make Movie Manager. In the dialog the opens, you may either edit an existing template or press New. Then choose the file type from the drop-down menu choices, and select a name for your template. Now you will be able to further tweak it, by designating the frame-rate (bitrate), audio format etc..

I guess if you want to that's your choice, but I don't understand why anyone would want to clog up a library with wine. :? What type of Library, and any specific wine? Have you sampled most of it already Harry :?: ;)

I suspect it may have been a language problem or typo. Probably meant to say "I want to fill up the library with mine"... :?: :?: :?:

But it will certainly be a vintage project by the time it emerges, at this rate!!!
