Camcorder "failed to initialize capture"

I purchased a firewire cable and can capture video from the cam fine using Microsoft's included Movie Maker on Win XP.

Just downloaded the Trial version of DVD MF and when trying to capture video get the message "Failed to initialize capture" - I OK that and get another message "No capture driver is available in the system"

Obviously the fiewire and connection is fine as MS Movie Maker can capture ok.

Can some kind soul advise if I have to do anything special to get Movie Factory to recognize my camcorder please?
