I recently purchased the above program and have been over a week now trying to install it. Nothing I've tried works. I keep getting the following msg when I try to access CapWiz "DV0001 Unable to initialize USB Capature Device. Pleas check poweer light and secure all cable connections." Also when I try to access ulead, I get this msg "Did not get OXFeed after perameter download." I've read prev. posts abt unplugging, un-installing, rebooting, plug back in and re-install and done that over 10 times; still no luck For some reason, I'm unable to un-install ulead when I perform all of those acts. I'm on cable. Have sent 3 e's to tech support at DVDXpress and received no repsponse. Can anyone help??

A guess...

I'm thinking that this is a hardware problem. Can you capture with any software? (i.e. The software that came with your "capture device" or camera... ).

If you are capturing analog video, make sure that you have a USB-2 port. USB-1 is not fast enough to capture analog video. Also, you may need a powered USB port. Sometimes the USB ports on the back of the computer can supply power, but the ports on the front can't. (Or the ports can't supply enough power.) If your source is a DV camera, it should have it's own power.

I have no clue about the Ulead error message. Is that when you start Video Studio, or when you try to capture with the same device that's causing the other problem?

Where is the video comming from? An analog-to-USB capture box? A digital camera?

Well, I have DVDXpress device and with it came u-lead. I have 4 usb ports and unpluged everything and have tried each port for this device. My system says its installed and the drivers and ports are all working. I'm connected fm my vcr to this device. When I try to access CapWiz, it tells me that CW0002 could not load or apply the skin C:\Program Files'ADSTech DVDXpress\Skins\DVDXpress\Metallic Xpress.Skin I'm also unable to access u-lead, as it says Did not get OXFeed after perameter download.
I'm sure thats very imforative to someone, but sure isn't to me. It might as well be telling me how to fly a DC-10!! Oh, I'm just so discouraged right now. Have been working on this for over a week now.

Hi Taz --

You know, I'm not getting a clear picture of this. Would you mind going over your experience very exactly, for us to read? I mean, describe what you do first (insert the CD, etc) and when things happen, and in what order.

DVDDoug commented on your not being able to "capture," but your post seems to be saying you can't even get the program into your computer.

You mention "u-lead." What program are you referring to? Ulead makes quite a few. Is it one of the many versions of VideoStudio?

I'll tell you: I really feel for you, when you say you are so discouraged! THAT is a feeling that every single one of us is familiar with! Discouraged and frustrated and angry, all at the same time! But chin up! Get back to us with a clear, step-by-step note, and we'll try to get ahold of this.

DVDXpress and DVD Movie Factory

I'm sorry if I'm sounding so confusing here. I just went through the uninstall and re-install process over again so that I could tell exactly whats going on. Here is what I'm trying to work with:
DVDXpress Version 3.0
DVD Movie Factory 3 ULead
1-Insert CD
2-Plug in Power Cable and next Power Source
3-Plug in USB Cable
Next I get a msg that windows has found new hardware and installed the driver.
After installation is complete, I click on the desktop icon for Capwiz and get this msg. "DV0001 Unalbe to initialize Capture Device. Please check powert light and secure all cables.
When I try to acccess the desktop icon for ULead, I get this msg. Did not get OxFEED after perameter download.
I am operating here with winxp 512ram 80gbs hard drive.
All that makes any sense to me is my connections but have tried every which way to connect with the same results.

Can we assume that your USB connection on the computer is USB 2.0? If by chance it is USB 1 (older computer), then it is not suited to transfer video as it would not be fast enough...

OOps sorry, I forgot to say that I'm running out video, out audio from my vcr to in,video,in audio. Using the main usb port back of my tower.

Unit Installed?

Is the DVD Xpress unit being properly recognized by your system? Is it listed in the Hardware devices anywhere?

What drivers are you using? ADS Tech has several drivers, and some of them are only for later versions of CapWiz (3.6). Don't use the latest version -- it' still in beta testing.

When you install the drivers, make sure you DO NOT let windows search for a suitable driver -- select the "Have Disk" option, and point it to the folder (or CD) that has the proper driver.

The key is to NOT LET windows search for a suitable driver.

George,
Thank you for that. I'll sure give it a try. Ha, I've done everything here but call out the National Guard!! Maybe this will work. Will let you know so that anyone else with this problem will also know what to do.

I think you should contact ADS Tech Support for your driver installation problem.

I thank you for that suggestion regarding working with tech support however, have been in contact with them for over a week now and so far, nothing they've suggested has worked. Guess I'll just send this thing back, as it's doing me absolutely no good sitting here not working.

ADSDVDXpress and ULead

This is to let everyone know that I finally solved my problem with the ulead and dvd xpress device. The entire problem was located in my DirectX settings. By going to System Mgr. and loading all new drivers for my NVIDIA settings, I uninstalled xpress and ulead,re-installed and it's now working fine. This may be the answer for anyone else who has the problem I did.
My thanks to all here who tried so hard to help me.

Welcome to the forums Antonio,

If you'll look at the date on Taz's last post, it was almost 3 yrs ago. So don't expect a reply from Taz on this too soon...;)

From what I read, he done a full uninstall/reinstall and it worked.
