Please Help me!

Post by DSLethal »

I'm a total NOOB when it comes to creating DVD's. I have a sony handycam with the 60GB HD. I've imported all of my movies into a folder. With ULEAD, i've had no problem importing them. My problem is this. ALL I WANT on my first "main menu page" is 2 options. A. START MOVIE and B. Select chapter. A obviously starts the movie, B, obviously takes me to a page to selected individual chapters. IM having an impossible time figuring out how to do this. I have xfire- username gx3lethal , AIM Piperpilot333. Can someone PLEASE help me with this. For someone that knows this application, its probably a very easy thing to do, but again, this is all new to me. Please help ASAP thank you.

Welcome to the forums,

I'll provide you with link to a tutorial found here on this Web Board. This should help you understand the art of video editing and producing a quality DVD.

You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial. This is a lengthy tutorial, you can scroll down, or click one of the links that will take you to the section regarding DVD authoring, creating your menus and chapters.

Vidoman, I am also a "Noob" and am having exactly the same issue as DSLethal - "A. START MOVIE and B. Select chapter. A. obviously starts the movie, B. obviously takes me to a page to selected individual chapters. I'm having an impossible time figuring out how to do this."

ME TOO! The MovieFactory 6.0 "help" files are, well, no help at all. :x

Vidoman, please send me the same tutorial that you sent to DSLethal.

Thank you!

You get to the tutorial by clicking the blue writing in Vidomans post, it is a link.

Basically you import or capture ONE video into moviefactory and use the create chapters option.
You then get a Main menu with one thumbnail or it you choose a text only menu, one line of text. You also automatically get a play all button.
If you click the thumbnail or the text it takes you to the chapter menu.
If however you click the play all button, it plays the Video.
If you had two videos then you would have got two thumbnails and a play all button. Clicking a thumbnail brings up that videos chapter menu.
If you did not include chapters, you still get a thumbnail button but this time it plays that video.

For more detailed and comprehensive information please view the link above.
