Editing a two camera shoot

Post by pianolance »

My daughters have a dance recital soon and I wanted to do the video for it. I have access to two Sony hard disk cameras. I wanted to do a long shot that captures the whole stage and the second camera for close ups. My question is this. Is Ulead well equiped for this (I have version 8)? Is there another product that is better suited to this type of production? What would be the method for accomplishing this with Ulead VS8?

Actually, I did post a question under another similar topic and you gave me a specific answer to that question, but I was looking for a more complete answer about the general proceedures for editing - splicing together such a production. Thanks for your answer specific to version 8 but the more information I can gleen the better. That's why I opened a new thread instead of piggy backing off the bottom of another thread. I need all the help I can get. So - what specific steps would you take to put together such a production as described in the thread. I am using two hard disk cameras. One Sony and the other one unknown at this point, maybe Sony and maybe not. I am a complete newbie to video editing although I am very familiar with digital audio editing as I own and operate a small audio recording business. Any gems you can throw my way would be appreciated.

My best suggestion would be - do some smaller, and easier, projects before attempting one so difficult. You've picked one heck of a way to get started.
