DVD Movie 6 - DVD Roms disappear

Okay, so I download version 6 trial because I've bought too much garbage software before. In order to install, I had to put in DirextX Feb something update and C++ 2005 redistribute.
These went fine.
Proceed with install, FIRST problem is there is no custom. I don't want all the burner garbage portion, I like the software I already own and use daily.
Real problem is that as soon as I installed and rebooted, both my DVD roms ( 1 Pioneer and 1 LG ) were gone.
Open my computer, no drives, uninstall the C++ and Ulead, reboot, no drives, only way to get drives back was a system restore to before the install. I'm using a P4 Dual Core 3.2 with 2 GB DDR2 RAM. Windows XP.
I tried several reinstalls, even going as far as getting the Direct X and C++ right from Microsoft in case the included had problems. Only reason I wanted this new version was because it had Divx support built in, only it doesn't, it uses an older codec from Divx then the one I already have on my system. IMO, this is useless, un-needed software and not worth the trouble it has caused JUST trying to instal, and of course, no support for trial software, or from what I have read on the forums, even for purchased software.
If anyone had a similar problem and actually got it installed, I'd love to know how. Seems the dual core and core duo chips are uleads arch-rivals.
