MF6 Menus - Play All, Special Features?

Post by TimMar »

I'm very new to Ulead MF (6.0), dvd authoring, and this forum, so I will apologize in advance if I am asking an RTFM or redundant question. I did search for this using "Play all", but I'm not even sure of the correct terminology.

I would like to be able to have my menus on the movie DVD I am authoring (my daughter's wedding) that work in a fashion similar to that found on commercial DVDs. That is, a main movie with various chapters that plays and a special features menu item that does not play when I run the main movie.

I've used the pdf document and the help files to figure out how to create chapters and I understand the menus (I think), but I'm a bit shaky in my uinderstanding of the relationship between clips and menus - it seems the menu creation screen (that I get to by clikcing next from the main screen) automatically sets up menus according to the clips shown on the main screen.

To do what I want, do I need to have all the clips that I wish for the play all of "one movie" combined and the other "specail features" separate?

Thanks in advance for any help or pointers to previous posts on this subject.

Yes, you would use the JOIN feature on the MF timeline so they will be converted to one clip.
To prevent the separate clips on the timeline from playing into one another, I would put the special clips to the right of the Joined Clips (main movie).then under the GEAR Icon (bottom of the screen) you want the drop down box in your project settings to display "Return To Menu" and not "Play Next Clip".

Thanks
