How do I determine field order of captured avi

I have captured a large number of video files as avi files through my digital camcorder (using fire wire) from a standard VCR tape. No matter what settings I have tried, the resulting DVD movie ends up very jittery and I think I'll need to recapture the tape again, thinking I must have had the wrong field order selected. However, I cannot determine what field order I used. The file properties say DV type 2 but do not give a field order. The file type is listed as DV AVI- Open DML. I used the ULead Direct Show capture plugin, which captures to AVI, and I thought I had set field order A, which I've read should be used for digital capture, even if the source is an analog tape. I've either used the wrong field order...or my information about using A is incorrect. Either way, I want to recapture with the opposite field order, but need to know for sure which I used first.
