Hi, When I try to run the vista service pak for DVDMF5 or any service pack for it it always tells me that it cant find DVDMF and wont install.
My DVDMF came with my computer and is called "Ulead DVD MovieFactory for TOSHIBA". It's version 5.

Hi,
The DVDMF 5 edition you have is a special and feature limited edition for Toshiba and cannot apply the update packs. If you want to have the Vista support then you would need to upgrade.
Ulead DVD MovieFactory - Upgrade Policy:
http://www.ulead.com/store/dmf/upgrade.htm
The Vista update pack for DVDMF 5 is for Standard/Plus edition, not for a version that comes within your system or hardware device.
Regards,
H.T.

But it came on a Vista laptop. Surley it should be able to work on the machine it came with. If Ulead are admitting it doesnt work on Vista then why was it supplied with a Vista laptop?
Maybe this is Toshibas fault but I've no idea how to resolve it.
Surley Toshiba paid ulead money for this software. Why shouldnt service packs apply to it as well?

>>>My DVDMF came with my computer and is called "Ulead DVD
>>>MovieFactory for TOSHIBA". It's version 5.
Sounds to me like it should apply to your version.
But only the update patch that's listed for the Toshiba, not the other update packs, you wouldn't want them anyway since they apply to XP.
Maybe if you re-install MF5 on top of the existing installation or can perform a repair for the Toshiba version it will fix this problem.
Otherwise, find you serial number for the Toshiba vesion under "About".
Register the software and submit a technical request form to ulead.
You do need to register the software on the ulead website and create an account to get technical support.

Hi,
The Vista update pack is for the retail versions (Upgrade or Full you purchased from Ulead directly or from the retail store), not for an version that come within a system.
For more details, you could contact Ulead Tech Support.

Hope this helps.

If the DVD MF version came on a Vista laptop, then I believe it's already a Vista compatible version and you do not need to update it.glevy wrote:But it came on a Vista laptop. Surley it should be able to work on the machine it came with.

I also have version 5 supplied with a Toshiba laptop which also had Vista home premium pre installed.
When i try to use moviefactory it will always crash and i often get a message saying its not compatible with this version of windows and some features will be disabled, or something similar to that.
I have tried to install the update but i get the same error message as above.
I do not know whos fault it is (toshiba or ulead)but i think it stinks that software supplied with a laptop is not compatible and there is no way to apply a service pack or patch to resolve the issue.
If i am going to spend money to purchase some usuable software i do not think it will be on moviefactory reading the above.
