I have just watched the "first cut" of a 50 minute DVD movie of a recent overseas trip and noticed two or three times there was a very short skip in the backgound music (about the length of one beat of the music). THe input clips are type AVI and I create a DVD 16:9 file and then create a DVD using the DVD file created.
Each time the music skips is when I have an OVERLAY of a small map which moves onto the top left of screen, pauses and then moves back off the screen (animation).
It almost seems the problem is the result of incorrect rendering - perhaps the rendering process could not 'cope' with everything at these places in the movie (video clip with sound, animated (direction/style) overlay and background music).
Any ideas what I could do or try to fix this?

ok.
I used to have the same problem of "skips" in the audio field.
I use UVS 9 .
I import my video as .AVI but,
after all editing is done, I save the AVI file.
stopped using VS to convert to mpeg for burning.
[cause of skips?] don't know.
Instead, I use a third party encoder TMPGEnc and never have any skipping or delay in audio in the final converted mpeg.
sometimes my saved .AVI file would have some skips but would disappear after going thru the 3rd party encoder.
I do a double scan. slower but effective I asume.
Don't know if it's supposed to clean it up or work that way, but it
smooths out the skips somehow...
