HC3 Capture Problem

Post by 6201jim »

I am unable to get VS10 to detect my HC3 when I connect it to my computer.
My iLink appears to be OK when I look at the hardware list on the system control panel. The source should show up as Sony HDV on the Capture panel in VS10 but it does not. The HC3 screen is set to play/edit and it shows HDVin and ILink options set.
I used to be able to connect the HC3 to VS10 before I had some repair work done on my Sony laptop (VGN-A170P) and had to rebuild my XP sysyetm amd all applications.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.

You need to be running XP ServicePack_2.

Did you re-install VS10 Plus (Plus Version of VS10 is required for HDV capturing). It should be re-installed if you reformatted & install xp again.

If yes, then put the cam into the down convert mode (in the cams setup menu) and go into the VS10+ capture module. See if you can capture standard DV format.
If you can capture in Standard DV mode with VS10 Plus then try to capture in HDV mode with this program.

If you can capture using HDVSplit I would turn the cam off, start VS10+, go into the capture module, after you receive the error no capture driver found then turn the cam on.
VS10+ should pickup the cam and use it.

Sony appears to have not installed SP2 when it reinstalled XP on my laptop.
Thank you for the solution.
