I've recently bought a new Toshiba laptop (with Vista Home Premium) that came with WinDVD 8. I have used WinDVD on my previous laptop without any problems. So far I have discovered 5 of my DVDs that cause WinDVD to hang with a blank screen and no sound and it requires killing the program via Windows to get out of it. None of the DVDs are new, but older ones I have play OK. All the DVDs play fine in Windows media player.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
If the laptop is using a ATi display chip (if I remember correctly), check the ATi website for driver updates.
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
You can also try the following steps to see if it helps.
Right clicks on the WinDVD video window, and select Options->Video, then uncheck all options in the Hardware section and then clicks on OK.
BTW, the tech support for pre-installed WinDVD version is been offered by the laptop manufacturer. You need to contact Toshiba for further help.
Hope this helps.
