Burning Multiple Copies of DVD

Post by lovemepug »

Hello and thank you in advance for your help. I've not had to use this forum before because I've figured everything out on my own and using the manual - but the manual is very vague on this subject.

I have slideshow project with 2 shows in it - and it burns just fine and dandy (after several hours of rendering time). It is for a friend's memorial service and I have to burn lots of copies (like 50) for friends/family/etc. I read the help files and it says:

"A Disc image file is an exact copy of your finished project. You can
use this file to burn multiple copies of your project at any time."

Great! So, I've done that - over and over and over again. It creates 2 files: dvd_udf.iso and dvd_udf.iso.adp. When I try and copy these files to a CD I constantly get an error saying that "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file". I can move the files to other areas on my hard drive with no problem - I only get this error when trying to copy to the DVD. I've changed out the DVD's several times and that doesn't work either. There is no more help on this issue in the manual. What I am doing wrong?

So, I'm stuck burning the DVD through the Ulead program which literally takes about 3 hours per DVD. I'm at my wits end and can't afford to take this to a duplicating service. I've downloaded all the patches - still doesn't work. I've read the forum and can't see that this issue has been addressed - if it has, I apologize.

I'm on Windows XP, using version 4.0 of the CD & DVD PictureShow software (dowloaded full version - not trial).

Please help before I pull all my hair out! :-)

When you create an iso file you are create what is termed an image of the CD/DVD. without special software you cannot view or use that image on the hard drive, it is rather like a zip file.

You do not burn the iso itself onto a disc, what you do is use the
Ulead Disc Image Recorder - found in your programs directory where you also have startup shortcut to CD & DVD picture show.

Wow! Would be SO great if that was in the help files! :-) The only executable I found was DiscDup.exe - so I'm going to give that a shot. Thank you SO much for answering my question - and on a SUNDAY! That's so awesome!

How are you trying to burn these ISO images to the DVD? Are you using a burning software other than ULEAD? Are you sing the step "Burn ISO image"? How did you create the ISO image in the first place?

I frequently store my video creations in either DVD folders or as ISO images on my HDD. I use NERO to burn these to DVD. I have the option to only burn 1 or several copies at the time. Of course, when burning multiple copies, NERO will be waiting for me to put in another blank disc when the previous copy has been burned

I don't know PS 4 but assume that all the burning modules for ULEAD software are somewhat identical with modified features relevant to the particular program. To what degree PS 4 is capable of burning ISO images to disk I can't say. If you have MovieFactory by Ulead or any other burning software, like NERO, ROXIO etc., look for the module "Burn ISO image", that should work provided your ISO image is in the right format.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I didn't know I needed an ISO burner - it wasn't in the help file :-)

So, I'm trying to use the Ulead one and I keep getting the error "This burner does not support this type of disc. Please insert a compatible media"

It is a 4.7G DVD+R disc - the same ones I've been using. I bought this program to hopefully make my life easier - and all it's doing is giving me mucho stress!

I will go to download.com and see if there are any other burners there that might work. Here's to hopin'!

If you have burned the same type disk before successfully, you must be doing something wrong. You do not need a specific burner to burn iso images. It's the software that transfers the contents of the image onto the disk. The burner only does what it's told. Are you sure your burner can handle multiple formats? Some can only burn to -R/RW media others only to +R/RW but the better ones can do both and some other formats as well.
Try a different disc and make sure your software hasn't formatted it before you start  Some packet writing software will ask you to format the disk when you insert a blank one, click on "NO" in case you get that message. Once a +/- R disc is formatted, it's useless for anything else.

If you have CD & DVD PS4 then you also have Ulead Disc Image Recorder.
You find it by Clicking the windows [START] Button followed by [All Programs]

Your Ulead programs will then have a path something like the following.
sorry cannot be more specific as I 'tidy up' my start menu to my own liking.

As I mentioned before - the Ulead program didn't work. I downloaded a free program and it is working beautifully - but I couldn't have done it if you didn't tell me about needing a specific burner. :-)

thanks again! I'm no longer pulling my hair out! :-)
