Removing audio from original track

Post by Carolyn »

I am editing a homemade video in VS10+. I have been able to add narration using a microphone, but want to remove the original background noise from the clip so only my narration is heard.
Can anyone help please.

click on the video clip in your timeline - in the information panel just above the right hand end of your timeline under the word 'Video' you will see some boxes - the first displays the clip duration - the next is the clip relative volume - to the right of those boxes is a loudspeaker with a cross on it - click on it and it will mute the sound of your video.

Using the relative volume box you can also raise or lower the video volume for instance if you just want to hear it very quietly in the background.

Have you read the user manual - or accessed the help file in VideoStudio ??

If you don't want any of the original sound track, you can also rite click the video track, click split audio, then delete it from the audio track. Bada bing, poof and it's gone!

Not really "gone", it's just muted.

If it's just muted, how would it be "unmuted"? You'd have to drag the clip from the library again to have audio again. Rite click, split audio, delete doesn't delete the audio?

No -- you just click the Mute button to toggle it off, and hey presto (or bada, bing, poof) the "deleted" audio is back...
