What do I handle output with HD?

I am considering buying a new HDV camcorder. I know I should be able to capture and edit this HD format with VS10+. Question is this. What can I do with it after I finish the project? I don't have a HD burner and most people don't have a HD player anyway. I want to down convert to a standard definition DVD. Can this be done? Any suggestions from anyone else doing this?

That's what alot of folks do -- they downconvert to SD for distribution on SD DVD's.

Others use Ulead software to author HD-DVD's, and burn them to regular DVD5/9 discs -- for playback in HD-DVD Players. This lets you add some simple menus for your HD Titles, and it shouldn't re-compress your HDV mpeg2 files (when smartrender is being utilized).

And there are other ways to distribute -- such as WMV-HD or HD DIVX, etc... -- but they will require mediacenter type playback...
