Mask Reversal

Post by davidvj »

I am having a problem finding out how to simply reverse a mask.

Typically I may wish to process the sky area apart from the land mass and I was assuming that there must be a way to simply reverse the selected portion of the image.

All that I can see is that the mask can be applied and the proces restarted.

In the "Selection" dropdown, select "Invert."

OK .. sounds easy ... but

I make a mask, then process the masked area .. at which point the REVERSE is grayed out!

How do I use the same mask fo the other half of the image?

PI does this a bit differently then some other apps.
  1. Enter Mask Mode (Edit || Mask Mode, or CTL+K, or pressing on the Mask icon in the Layers Palette).
  2. Create your mask, ie; using the paint brush painting the area to mask
  3. Now exit Mask Mode and you should have a Selection.
  4. Store your selection. (Selection || Store Selection
  5. Selection || Invert
  6. Enter Mask Mode, you should notice that the Masked (red or whatever color you are using to depict your mask) is now inverted..
Hope that's what you are chasing....;)
