Colors Are Wrong

Regardless of any DVD or video clip played in WinDVD 8 Platinum, the colors are all washed out , almost black & white.

-->WinXP Pro, 3.0 GHz, 512 MB, Region 1 (USA), DirectX 9, Visual C++ runtime libraries installed.

What settings need be adjusted to get video to properly display the colors?
