disable Ulead autodetector and InstallShield in Vista 64bit

Post by Kaledi »

Ok I have Vista Ultimate 64bit edition and successfully installed PI12 and patched it to Vista compatible.
The software works fine, which is great.
However, I can't seem to disable 2 elements of PI12, namely,
Autodetector and the Autoupdate feature supplied by InstallShield.
1. Thw Autodetector has a tray Icon from which you are supposed to be able to set it to prevent openning on Windows startup. Even though I set it up to prevent starting on Windows start up. When ever i boot up it still loads!!
2. When I boot up the Vista security centre asks me if InstallShield is allowed to run, to which I say yes or no it doesn't matter, i can't stop this service from initiating.

For both problems, I've checked the startup options, and indeed the services and i can't find either to disable. Next to deleting the folders in which the executables reside I'm at a loss to prevent them loading on Vista boot.

Anyone with any ideas?

Not being a Vista user but suspect this will not be any different to XP,
Try looking in the Windows Registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and also
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Ulead Autodetector - could not turn it off

Thanx for the info about the registry entries. I had the same problem with Vista Business - the second registry location contained the offending entry.
