Maintain Aspect Ratio of Source?

Post by curlyred »

So I burn a DVD of an unusually sized (580x234) Xvid video, expecting MF6 to put the appropriately sized letterboxes on the top and bottom in order to fill the 4:3 screen without ruining the aspect ratio of the video.
Apparently, my expectations were too high. MF stretched my video vertically, but not all the way. It also placed some randomly sized letterboxes. Nonetheless, the aspect ratio was ruined.
I know I can use another program (VirtualDub, TMPGEnc) to put the letterboxes on to make it 4:3, but if I do that, I essentially have to encode it twice. Is there something I'm missing here, or is it simply too much to ask for MF to encode with correctly sized letterboxes?

Wrong program. You need either VideoStudio or MediaStudio.
