Cannot install update on MF 4 SE

SUBJECT: Cannot install update on MF 4 SE

Nature of the problem = Error

Error = Setup cannot find Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4 installed on your system.

I Installed
“DVD MovieFactory Version 4 SE (Boxed Version)”

I then went to their web site for updates and downloaded the updates for “Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4” using windows XP version. (dmf4_up4_e.exe)

I get the error (Setup cannot find Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4 installed on your system)
It is installed and registered. It runs fine.

If I start up MovieFactory and leave it running while I try to install the update it I get this error.
Ulead DVD MovieFactory is currently running in the background. Please close the application first and try again.

I do what it says and I still get the first error.

Question Does anybody know what is the problem?

As far I can tell updates do not apply to SE (Special Edition) versions.

There is a small note on the update page:
NOTE: This update pack will NOT work with DVD MovieFactory SE or Suite versions
