Montage/Zoom Effect
Hi
I'm not sure if this is the right place to put such a query...
I want to have a montage of videos, lets say four, then have them individually zoom out to take up most of the screen and then zoom back to thier original position.
Does VideoStudio have this capability?

No, unfortunately that is not possible with VS. It's big bro MediaStudio Pro is needed for this time of an effect. This effect uses a Moving Path to accomplish the zoom to full screen look.
A workaround would be to use clips on the main video track, and overlay, and cutting or fading between them. The main track of course would be a full screen, while the overlay would be numerous cuts of the clip in various sizes. It would take a lot of clips to make the transition look smooth.

Well, if you are going to buy:
1) You might want to hold off as VS11 is soon to be released (though we don't have a firm date).
2) Buy the version which has '+' after it -- this will have multiple overlay tracks, whereas the version without the + only has one overlay track. I think it is going to be the same with VS11 and VS11+.

Zoom Effect
I was interested in this "Zoom Effect" question but is a little different way, can I place a still image in an overlay track (I use VS10+) that is smaller than the screen, have it off to one side (say top left) and then have it zoom out to full screen?

No. As Ron stated, MSP uses moving paths to accomplish this, whether it be video clips or still clips. His workaround probably would work, but definitely would take a lot of time.

Thanks
Thanks Jeff.
I am not very familiar with MSP, is it similar to use than VS10+ or is it a totally different interphase requiring a larger learning curve?
Nice Lab, I am a dog lover myself.
Cheers

MediaStudio Pro has a much steeper learning curve. I would never recommend MSP to a beginner. However, if you are confident in your VideoStudio, or other video editing application, abilities you should be able to figure out MSP (plus you have the great Ulead forum
.

trial version
I am downloading the trial version of MediaStudio Pro and see how I make out. I like VS10+ but I am starting to come up on things that I want to try to do but cannot. I did discover the FXbench filter that added a lot of extra fun to editing.
Thanks again

Just a word to the wise. There is some question as to whether MSP will be phased out by Corel/Ulead. If that doesn happen who knows how long MSP will be supported (for example, no Vista patch was released).
You may want to hop on the MSP forum to discuss further with those regulars.

Your right about MediaStudio Pro havinga much steeper learning curve. I downloaded the trial version and found it quite frustrating trying to get it to do the moving path thing. I don't have the time these days to basicaly learn a whole new program so I am going to drop it for now. Sure would be nice if they just added the Moving Path feture to VS+, what it seems to be able to do is quite nice.
By the way, I did notice that I can move the vft_plugs and the vfx_plugs over from my MSPro file directory to my VS file directory in my computer addind some extra transitions and filter effects to my VS10+. Now when I open my VS10+ it has some extras... cool

I also ended up downloading the MSP trial. Its a treat to use once you get the hang of it (Well. I'm still getting the hang of it...). It was a bit overwhelming coming from VS with all its fancy options and stuff, but hey - isn't that what your after when you move to the next step in editing. I certainly hope they don't stop pumping out later versions, maybe they need to look at reducing the cost. I tried Adobe premier and found Ulead to be much much more user friendly.
Oh. And I ended up using the moving path function for my initial query - worked perfectly!
