VS8 w/ Patch... no MPEG audio

I have run into a problem. A .mpg file (mpeg) that plays just fine with all audio and video in Windows Media Player does not play audio when dragged to a new project in Video Studio 8. The video is there but with no audio. I was having this problem before the patch and am still having this problem after updating to 8.01.

I can't fugure it out and would appreciate help from seasoned vets.

Would the audio happen to be Dolby/AC-3? If so, then you need to buy the AC-3 module from Ulead or obtain a freeware copy by searching AC-3 on the old Board (can't remember if this topic has been dealt with on this new Board yet).

Yes sir... thanks. Kind of sucks that another $30 US has to be forked over... but it now works.

I have never tried this but from the old forum, someone discovered that you could activate ac3 as follows:

Scroll to the [VIO Driver] section in UVS.INI and change the following from =0 to =1
Play AC3
Decode AC3
Ulead AC3 Encode

It's worth a try...
uvs.ini is at C:\Docs & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead\Ulead Video Studio\8.0

so basically ulead is charging us $30 or £15 to unlock this part of the program.

i thought only Pinnacle could that cynacle and sell you a program you have to unlock to get access to it?!?

thats what i like about the ulead products you are not asked every where to pay this that or the other to get an extra transition, filter codec. you just purchase a bolt on to the product. (full product that is) Pinnacle sell you a full product but you have to buy a key to unlock it when asked!

now what would be great was if the products themselves actually worked when they hit the shelves! that would be a miracle!
