Audio increased the project size

Post by wedged »

I am working in version 2 and are basicially creating just photo slideshows (although quite a lot of them >90 and several menus). I added about 10 audio tracks to the image clips while in edit mode and noticed that the file size increased from 2.3 gb to 31.9 gb. I assumed that the audio files were the problem as I imported them directly from CD and promptly removed them. However it made little to no difference to the file size. Now I can't go back to the original file size. Can I compact or reduce the file size. I know there is nothing in my project to warrant this size.

Also when importing audio to a clip is mp3 the best format to keep this problem in check.

I have spent ages on this project and would hate to restart. Could anyone help please.

Not sure why the file size is not compacting, but you probably had the audio setting as PCM which takes up a lot of diskspace (must have been some massive audio files). Anyway, choose AC-3 encoding and make sure the encode to template box is checked on your audio menu.

Are these audio files AC3 files? If they are then when you "Finish" and choose "Disc Templates" (especially when creating the project in audio if you have "convert to disc template" checked) make sure the "Dolby Digital AC-3 Audio" ones are chosen. I noticed that if you don't it shows a bloated disc size as to compared to if you choose one of the AC-3 options (I have never actually made the disc though).
