So strange

Post by japanandy »

I'm perplexed and back to the drawing board. I opened a new project, put some rendered MPEG2 on the timeline, edited it (just cut off the beginning and end leaving a shorter video). Then I tried to create a video. That's all. I had all the project settings matching as described above.

The video started rendering and seemed slow. After about forty minutes it was halfway through. Later I returned and the program had shut off. There was a very small, incomplete MPEG2 file (500 kb or so). This same thing happened 3 times.

I will try a couple things. I'll make a video profile, etc. But I'm bothered that I can't repeat the same process two days in a row. This software is so attractive, but...what gives?

Is the trial ware more unstable than the full version??

In between my successful experience and now I was trying to create an MPEG4 video to share on Youtube. I was just trying the MPEG4 and MUV templates. Both of those crashed immediately (after one second) every time. I suspect those attempts have something to do with the loss of stability. I don't know. Anyway...

Update

First, sorry, I didn't mean to start another thread.

Second, between successful movie creations I had installed DivX Codecs and a program called Any Video Converter. I uninstalled all of those. Then I switched over the my Video profile (a user account that I actually had all along for using Premiere). Then I was able to render video again without the shut downs.

You could try Reinstalling using the 'Repair' option first but once a Programme starts to give problems it's usually best to cut your losses and take the uninstall/ reinstall option as long as you remember that whatever you have in a VS folder will be lost ie. Additional Transitions, Masks etc you may have downloaded which will need to be copied into a new folder first.

Edit: I see you've sorted the problem "all's well that ends well"
