Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How about removing the other addons I mentioned in the thread pointed to in my last post... before installing (not just AVControlSDK)? The QuickTime explanation was already there, in that post. You can try removing everything except the MF components.

By "removing" I mean just move them somewhere else. You can move 'em back later and don't need to reread everything from the CD.

My bet is the failing install is due to one of the packages in WinDVD or DVDCopy (phone-home service, InterActual, Windows patches, or ASPI) if it is not AVControlSDK. Just a hunch based on previous experience.

Snoops,
Going by memory, in this utilities directory there are 4 executables or scripts.
One of these I thought installs a driver to access the dvd's?
Maybe possible if someone has other packetwriters or like you say dvd copying software this is where the conflict could be since the AV_Control seems to install without a hitch.

GemPks,
I have exactly the same problem and have been though hoops as you have been to try and install this package.
I am pretty disgusted with the total silence from Ulead about this problem - I have emailed them many many times with no reply and I'm sure they are watching new entries on this forum but they seem to ignore customers like us and presumably hope we will go away.
It wouldn't be so bad if they at least update us on steps they are taking to try and resolve this issue.
The only guy I did talk to on their help line told me lots of users have this same problem and they are working on it !

grahambooth,
I received my copy of the software 12 May 2007. I can't count how many clean-ups and reinstalls I have done. I only received one response to my e-mail on 14 May 2007 and talked to a tech on the 15 May, which didn't help. No answers to my e-mails since.

I have tried to install MovieFactory 6+ with a minimal system as described in my last e-mail but was wondering if there still might be conflict with several other DVD software packages I have install;

Adobe Premiere Elements,
Magix Movie Edit Pro 11

Do you have any of these installed on your system?

I purchased VideoStudio 11+ at the same time and it gives the same error when I attempt to install it.

I also noticed when Looking in my Control Panel Add/Remove, I have two copies of Microsoft Visul C++ Redistributables installed which were installed with the Uleads software.

Prior to purchasing MovieFactory 6+ and VideoStudio 11+ I used MovieFactory 3 and VideoStudio 7 which gave me no problems other than they didn't support the audio modes I was interested in.

Going by memory, in this utilities directory there are 4 executables or scripts.
No, in my MF5+ installation media the Utilities has much much more: AVControlSDK, DVDCopy, FlashPlayer, QuickTime, WinDVD, WMEncoder, WMFormat.
DVDCopy and WinDVD both have several components (and some more in their 3rdPartyApp subfolder), and some of these are identical, others are different.
PEX (PhotoExplorer) is not in Utilities and contains a different QuickTime installer than in Utilities.
So each "product" has its own complete installation folder, thrown together into one MF installation media.

That is why I suggested to try installing without any of all that additional stuff, if you are not getting help from support.

Note about installing WinDVD manually later (well, at least MF5+ does it like this): it needs to be installed via the autorun.exe in the root folder. This spawns the WinDVD\Setup.exe with a SN:serialnumber command line option. If you run the WinDVD setup directly, no serial number is known and it will not be active.

Snoops,

These are the 4 directories located in the retail distribution of MF6+
\Utilities\AVControlSDK
\Utilities\DivX
\Utilities\FlashPlayer
\Utilities\LS_1.4.124.1
\Utilities\WMFormat

The Lite-Scribe technology is something to do with this directory \Utilities\LS_1.4.124.1

PC hangs during install

Post by l2chil »

I had the same problem during the installation time when AVControlSDK tried to load. Tried reinstalling etc.. same problem. Guess what during the hang period (no program response) I ejected the cd and reinserted it. Much to my amazement it continued the installation and all works fine.

I have received the following email from Ulead.

Dear global support team,

As you know users encounter a bug regarding installation error of UVS11 and DMF6. During installation they suddenly got the error message "A fatal error has occurred during installation". after the message "AVControl SDK will be installed". Every known solution in that case won't change a thing.

The patch for this bug was ready yesterday, please send the attached file or this link to user.

ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/VideoSt ... pgrade.exe

The steps are listed as following,

1. Remove manually the UVS/DMF files/folder under Program Files or where they installed by themselves.
2. Update the patch WinDVD5.0B011.Recover.FixedGenericLicense.iUpgrade.exe
3. Install UVS/DMF again.

Please give me any feedback of users, if it runs ok, I will require web team to create webpage for this patch.

Hello!

So what is new about dealing with this problem?

If I use WinDVD5.0B011.Recover.FixedGenericLicense.iUpgrade.exe I get the same problem as some of the people saying that the program can't run because I don't have WinDVD...

I'm still waiting for the solution.
