MSP8 on a macbook pro?

Post by troppo »

Due to recently securing a fairly large filming contract, I have decided to buy a new 'on location' laptop. I really want a new 17" MacBook Pro, so I can run both operating systems, giving me an upgrade path (final cut) if ulead decide to discontinue MSP. My question is thus, has anyone used MSP8 on a windows xp macbook, and did it run ok?
Any advice appreciated.

I know someone using an Intel Mac Core2Duo (forget the speed). It's fast. Windows purred along nicely.
He does alot of audio work in the mac interface on it.
He has windows installed where it natively boots and runs windows, but they are still developing some of the hardware drivers for it. I know usb works.
Under the device manager he also had a few devices marked "?".
He did buy the best retail kit to install windows on it to have the windows license.

At your risk and peril! :)

Dammit! It doesn't even work under Windows Vista!

I did not have a Intel MacBook yet but I guess it will run fine, if you get both video and audio drivers installed properly on that WinXP.

If you could wait a few months, I hear Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) will be released in this spring (so it's around the corner) and it might have better support for WinXP drivers if you want a dual boot system with Apple BootCamp.

I still keep Vista untouched, maybe later.

Thanks guys, it's what I thought. I agree with you Htchien, it would be better to wait for Leopard, but I need the laptop in a few weeks unfortunately. And yes Devil, I am not going down the Vista road anytime soon, I'm not really into visual candy, I still run XP in the 'classic' mode, more speed!
Have a nice day :-)
