Following numerous recommendations I have downloaded VideoStudio Plus 10 trial version for use with my Sony SR100 hard disk camcorder.
A couple of days ago I attempted my first DVD. It was a pretty simple affair - the only editing was chopping off a bit at the start and end of some clips, creating and adding in a still image at the beginning of each seperate clip to display some text and simply attching one after the other. In other words, I didn't mess with the "body" of the footage.
I have though been disappointed with the results. At times the image is jerky and this is particularly noticeable when the shot zooms in which appears shuddery and not at all smooth.
I am well aware of issues with editing footage from hard disk camcorders but I am sure I can improve this. I didn't change any default settings (I assumed VS would now what format it received in etc).
Can anyone suggest any ideas?

Usually one can't use the default settings.
The default setting is more of a generic template.
I would read and go through this tutorial and check out the other tutorials:

It sounds like you have comletely re-rendered/re-encoded your video and may have possibly de-interlaced it to frame-based, which you don't want to happen.

I too just finished my first test DVD, with footage shot with my Sony DCR-SR100 camcorder. My video turned out great....none of the problems you experienced. I am using the 10+ software. I don't know if the trial version is causing any of your problems. I matched the MPEG-2 camcorder clip properties with the VS project properties, and had no trouble.

Thanks kphutch.
I guess I was rushing through the "trial run". I literally just imported the files (from mobile device) and edited. I didn't change any settings.
Can you clarify where you "Matched the MPEG-2 camcorder clip properties with the VS project properties"? I assume that is a crucial part. And any other tips!
Much appreciated
