Menus?

Post by n3vpc »

Hi,

I have been working with VS10 plus and have posted a few questions here for help. My latest problem is one about the programs DVD menus.

I would like to create my own. More to the point, one that would allow about 5 or 6 chapters to appear on 1 menu page at one time.

Working and editing with some of my videos I have found that many times I am only using the 2nd menu page or one or two chapters. These menus are all from within the samples given with the program. Is there a way to create my own? Or even heavy modify the one inside the program?

You can easily customize menus in VS10. See page 122 in the User's Manual for details.

As for making your own, Steve has a great tutorial.

Thanks Jeff,

On Steve’s site or link? It looks as though he is talking about ULEAD’s Ulead Photo Impact 11.

I do not own such an animal..................at least not yet. I don’t know if this will help or not but going over there to see what I can learn. Incidentally, was over at your business site and learned a lot. Interesting site for those wishing to begin video editing.

Good hearing from you in Pottstown. How’s the snow situation?

Yes, the tutorial is for making menu templates with PhotoImpact.

Got about 3" of a sleet/snow mixture. Ready for spring! Where are you located?

Hi all, I'm new to Ulead products (check post count  ) and have purchased Videostudio 10 after getting mightily annoyed with Nero's shoddy work. I'm impressed so far but I too have had the same problem with menu creations. I would like to apply a background image, a number of chapter buttons and some navigation buttons. Videostudio seems to limit me by insisting I use a template which then only allows a set number of chapter buttons per page. The number of buttons is either not enough (lots of menu pages) or far too many (background image obscured).
Also the templates insist I use a title text box - would I be right in saying that if I leave this box unused and as it is then it will not appear on the menu?
If I've missed something then my apologies but this is a show-stopper for me right now on what is an excellent piece of software. I don't want to have to keep using Nero!!

P.S I'm trialling DVD Workshop as I type this :D

For Jeff......................

about 45 miles north-northeast of you.

For FFProductions,

Hi! I can only tell you this. I have purchased this product and I can tell you for sure .......................you DID NOT waste your money. BUT...........................

That being said, it is NOT the most user-friendly program in the world BUT it does give you the biggest bang for your buck.

You did nothing wrong by becoming a member of this forum. There are some really great people here who will guide you through what –ever you’re trying to do. But you must give them a chance to respond. There are many on this list and all wishing to learn. Obviously they cannot help everyone at once but HELP they do.

For my part, they have more than gotten me through some rough areas where I thought I would just throw the program away. Although not nearly an experienced user yet, I can get around the program fairly well and this was all due to their help and indeed, great patience with me. Hang in there all will be well. VS10plus has many great features and learning them or having the “Keys” to use them is all part of learning and this forum.

Enjoy........................and go slow,

Bill

No worries :)

I've actually encoded the whole movie to a 30gb file then opened it with the trial version of DVD Workshop - I'm limited but I've got my menu sorted for now! Cheers for the speedy response

P.S I make movies for Fight Force - a British company that organises Martial Arts fighting as a feeder to the pro-circuits. One evening gives me about 4 hours of footage over 15 fights.
