PhotoImpact 12 Free Trial Problem

Post by TigerChick11593 »

Ok so I just downloaded the Free Trial for PhotoImpact 12 and the icon is on my desktop and all. But the problem is when I open first window

^ this window
I click the try button and this comes up

for like 30 seconds and then nothing follows it, it just stops and the window leaves

Can someone help by telling me what's going on and how to fix it so I can use the free trial?

Thanks

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

If you are running XP then you need to use an Administrator Account or alternatively use "Run As" and select an Administrator accont.

Ok I filled out more, but (not to be mean) but what is this doing to help my problem? Is my problem a common problem? Is it fixable?

I guess questions like these were y this forum was made. Well I hope we(mostly you guys) can get to the bottum of this.

Thanks for the help so far tho!

Something is stopping your PI from starting up. If we don't know anything about your system, how are we going to be able to have a guess at why this happens?

To answer your other questions: No it is not a common problem and, yes, it should be fixable.

Right click anywhere on your desktop (monitor screen) while the desktop is shown, not when you are on a program interfeace. Click "Properties" in the little window popping up and then click "Settings".

Please tell us what is listed in the marked area?

Another possibility, happened recently to another user, is if you have a large tiff image in your "My Documents" folder. Aparently PI looks at the My Doc's folder when it loads. if you have any tif or tiff images inside that folder, move them to a different location until we have eliminated these as a source of your troubles.

In that area of mine it is: 1024 by 768 pixels

and with tif thing, I don't want to sound lazy, but i have several folders of images and I don't think I can go through all of those images in a short amount of time. So I hope the pixels info helps and if it comes down to me have to look for that tif thing. I guess I'll have to.

That "tif" thing is an image format. It's very easy to find out if you have any. Open Win Explorer (right click on Start and select Explore). Navigate to the "My Documents" folder and click on "Search". Select "All files and folders" and in the search window "All or part of the file name" type ".tif*" without the quotation marks. Click on search and let the PC do its thing. If in the results list there are files listed which reside inside the "My Documents" folder, move them to another location on your hard disk.

Your 256 MB RAM are the bare minimum but it should at least run, alas very slow. I have no experience with AMD processors and am not sure if that makes a diff.

Please note:
System requirement

* Intel Pentium III compatible or above
* Microsoft Windows® 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows® XP Service Pack 2 Home Edition / Professional, Windows®XP Media Center Edition, Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition
* CD-ROM Drive
* 256 MB RAM
* 750 MB available hard drive space for program and content files
* True Color or Hi-Color display adapter with 1024x768 resolutions or higher
I trust your display is set to "True Color" or better still "Hi-Color". You need a minimum of 24 bit true color RGB setting.

Ok so right now, I have found out I have no tif documents. And so basically your saying it should run, but since it's not and you don't have expirence with my kind odf processor, you can't help me anymore then you have. Alright, thank you for the help, I really appicate it. Maybe, I just wasn't meant to use the service. I'm sorry if I wasted your time, it's just I really wanted to use it. Thanks again for all the help. If it does start to work or someone here figures it out, I'm sure we will keep eachother posted.

In the bottom of the splash screen when PI is loading, it shows what files are being loaded. Just prior to crashing, what is the file that is being loaded? This may help us in figuring this out..

the only thing that comes up is this. Then it leaves the screen and nothing happens.

Do this:

Rename the file "uipl.dll" in the PI 12 program folder (e. g. to "uipl.old"). PhotoImpact12 should start.

IF the above doesnt work, I had this problem with an earlier version of Photoimpact and found it would only run using the XP User account that installed PhotoImpact.

You can do this from within another XP user account using the Run As command.
